Sharing Internet Connections

Once you have an Internet connection, you may want to share it. If you have a 56k dial-up connection, forget sharing. Its just not enough speed to give anyone sharing it acceptable performance.

DSL or cable do provide enough speed to share the connection. How many will it satisfy? It depends on who is using it and how much they use it. In general, DSL or cable is enough for several users.

In order to share an Internet connection, you need to network your computers. Once you are networked then you need a router and firewall to protect your network from intrusion by outside Internet users.

Configuring the computers, router and firewall correctly is essential for reliable operation, good performance and security. Need help in getting everyone online? Call us.
